Pistachio Ice Cream Pie

This dessert is a perfect intro dish for those just learning to cook. Especially for children, since it does not require an oven. Not to mention, so yummy, it pleased many a college roommate. Seriously, it's hard not to eat the whole thing before it leaves the kitchen.

What You'll Need

• 1 graham cracker crust shell (purchased or homemade)
• 1 package of pistachio pudding 
• 3/4 c. of milk
• 2 c. softened vanilla ice cream
• 1 carton of whipped topping
• 1 toffee bar (broken in pieces) optional
  
  What To Do
  
  • Mix pistachio pudding with milk.
  • Add in vanilla ice cream to mixture.
  • Pour into graham cracker shell.
  • Smooth whipped topping over top to cover.
  • Place in freezer for 2-3 hours, then serve.
  • Store any leftovers in freezer.

Cheese Lasagna

 

   What You'll Need:

• Lasagna noodles
• 1 jar of marinara sauce (I'm a big fan of Prego)
• 3-4 cups of mozzarella cheese
• 8 oz. or half of a 15 oz. tub of ricotta cheese
• Fresh basil leaves or leaves from a rosemary sprig optional
  What To Do:
  Cook 6 pieces of lasagna noodles according to package instructions.
  Lay down a thin layer of marinara in a large casserole dish (This recipe can be modified to fit a medium-sized casserole dish.)
  Once pasta is cooked, layer the ingredients in the casserole pan in this order:
  pasta, spoon ricotta across pasta (I used 2 Tbsp in each layer), marinara, mozzarella. Repeat for two more layers. Be sure to go crazy with the very top layer of mozzarella.
  * If you decided to use basil or rosemary, sprinkle it into the middle layer.
  Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

Had an icicle form by the water tap the other day.

Of course it melted by that afternoon. Still made me smile. I really wish Texas would pick a season already. *le sigh*

Also set up my lovely lamp that was my mother's back in the day.
It's so perfect on my nightstand..

It even has a key switch :)

Unpacking/Vintage Finds

So sorry that I've been neglecting this poor little blog. The holidays plus moving, has turned my world upside down.

I've finally gotten the chance to share my recent vintage finds :)
*Do forgive the quality of the photographs. I've only been able to find my point and shoot.

Super cute set of four mushroom pictures. The top picture shows the true coloring. 

Glass bottle that I'll be using to hold homemade salad dressing, and an orange bowl circa 1970's.

A cute glass jar that I got for $1. I'm going to build a terrarium inside.

Weather Forecaster. The thermometer no longer works, but who needs that when you're inside? Inside the house is a witch, which(<< haha witch which) comes out when it's rainy or snowy. The children come out when the weather is fair. As you can see, it's perfectly clear in Texas.
Ever since I saw one at my Aunt Judy's house in Washington when I was 6, I've been on the lookout.

Finally tracked one down.

It's very dependable. Even when it looks the opposite outside, it's always right.

Doily Project

I've been super busy in past few weeks. I've been promoted into management, packing up all my crap (You never realize how much you have until you're moving.), working long hours because of the holidays (I hadn't had a day off for three weeks!), and trying to remain organized in the midst of it all.

The good news is I found the perfect solution to closet blues!

If your closet sucks, add another one! Sooo excited! It has 72 in. of hanging space, a place for my frequently worn shoes, and shelves for sweaters, handbags, etc.

I can't wait until I finally get moved in and can start decorating! I will definitely post pictures of the results.
