10 Things I Love- May

1. Getting a promotion.
Woohoo!

2. Turned Up Turquoise nail polish

3. Picnics at the lake.

4. Vintage patterns on Etsy
Picked up this dandy one at Olive Alley's shop.

5. Tea
Well I love tea all the time, but now especially since I have many a flavor stocked up. Scarlet, strawberry and of course Earl Gery. To name a few.

6. Picking out gifts for my cousin who’s getting married in just 9 days! AAHHH!

7. Fresh fruit

8. Looking through old family photos.
I love seeing the clothing and cars in these pictures.

My Grandma(bottom right) with two of her sisters and mother.

My Grandma(middle) with Great Aunt Sharon(left), Great Aunt Shirley(right) and Great Uncle Robert.

My great grandparents with my Grandma and Great Aunt Sharon. They were in high school at this point.

 My Great Grandma Dana Stratton.

9. Lush products (bath bombs in particular)

The Twilight bath bomb is my favorite thus far. It turns your bath water pink, then adds shades of blue to look like a sunset. The colors merge together to create a glittery lavender(don't worry none of the shimmer sticks to you.) It's positively delightful :)

10. Dia de los Muertos artwork

I love anything that has to do with Day of the Dead. It's such a beautiful and respectful holiday. I wish we celebrated it throughout America, but it mostly resides in central and southern Texas.

I picked this print up while in San Marcos. Devin has a bit of a fear of bones, so he's not that big of a fan. But since they're dressed so properly, he's okay with it.

Vintage Finds

The following items are from my past few flea market/antique shop trips.

A Pyrex mixing bowl with a Horizon Blue print, a copper jello mold, and a set of duck glasses. (The glasses are just like the ones I had as a child, so they're very nostalgic for me. Happy to have found a pair. )

I also got this set of 4 embroidery hoops for a measly $3 and a ceramic yellow dog bank signed "Todd"..whoever that is ha

Next up, jewelry! Ooo!

A set of aqua flowered earrings with a matching brooch, and another flower brooch that says it was "Made in German West." Which means it was made anywhere from 1949 to 1989.

Currently in April

Yeah yeah yeah, I know. I'm late, but at least I'm posting! :)

Currently Watching

 Princess and the Frog

So stinkin' cute! I have seen it before, but made Devin watch it with me this time. I love that there's finally an independent Disney princess who cares more about working hard to achieve her dream, then she does finding a prince. Such a good role model for little girls.
Fair warning, if you do have children, there are some spooky parts here and there. All about voodoo.

And of course there are some cute talking animals in the mix, and a hilarious voodoo lady Mama Odie who reminds me so much of my Grandma Lytle it's scary(minus the voodoo and Cajun heritage).

My Great Grandmother on my Dad's side was a full blood Cherokee. I know that when you do the math, that doesn't equal much for me, but it's always been something that we have tried kept alive in our family. My Grandpa, who died when I was 6, would teach me different words in Cherokee when we would sit on the front porch together. Of course I don't remember any of them now, but what I do remember is that it was important to him to teach me what he could.  As each generation comes along, we loose more and more of the knowledge of the culture. So I've been trying to scramble to immerse myself in it.

Radiohead- In Rainbows
Broke down and bought this on vinyl.
Nothing's better than Radiohead and a glass of wine. Nothing.
